IRVINE, CA - Tropitone Furniture Company Inc is gearing up for the HD Expo & Conference in Las Vegas (May 14-16, 2014) with plans to introduce its Spasso outdoor upholstered group, with linking system, for the Tropitone® MODA™ brand.

Stevens also pointed out, “Although the brand is targeted primarily at the commercial market segment, we believe many of the products will crossover and appeal to certain residential customers. The products were designed to withstand the outdoor environment, but we believe they will find their way to indoor spaces as well.”

Spasso was created by noted designer John Caldwell to address the styling and functional needs of upscale commercial spaces. The smooth tight upholstery highlights simple and graceful lines. A subtle flair in the back allows the design to fit comfortably in a wide range of transitional and contemporary spaces.

“The Spasso group’s styling completely captures the polished, cultured and urbane personality of the Tropitone® MODA™ brand,” said Tom Keddy, director of Product Management. “Spasso is also the first to utilize two of Tropitone’s new innovative design features: 1) removable upholstered covers which enable easy replacement of the outer cover; and 2) versatile linking system which allows seating, ottoman and accessory table models to be “ganged” together in various lengths and patterns. Spasso’s styling, removable upholstery covers and linking system represents the seamless integration of form and function for which Tropitone Furniture Company has long been recognized.”

The removable upholstery covers enable easy replacement of the outer cover. Unlike loose fitting “slip-covers,” Spasso’s upholstery has smooth flowing lines that correspond to the inner frame. Upholstery covers can be replaced on-site, in minutes, with no tools or special expertise required. Out-of-service time is minimized so guests can enjoy the space as intended.

Each Spasso seating model includes a water-resistant seat cushion that is cleanly tailored and comfortable. The fabric outer cover incorporates a mesh drain panel in the bottom, and can be removed and replaced via a zippered opening. A water repellant inner cover encases a cushion of drain-through foam. Just as with the upholstery covers, all sewing seams of the cushions are sealed to be water-resistant. The optional back cushions feature the same detailed construction and provide a more personalized seating experience. 

The versatile linking system is included on every Spasso model except for the modular sun lounger. The linking system connectors allow seating, ottoman and accessory table models to be “ganged” together in various lengths and patterns. “A designer or property manager can circle them into one continuous loop, make a star, a crescent or any other shape that they desire,” said Peter Homestead, vice president of Design. “Or leave them open-ended to wind around specific spaces. Each linking system connector has built-in pivoting which enables the Spasso models to stay linked and sitting evenly over rough or uneven surfaces.  This pivoting feature also allows for simple pattern adjustments without the need to disconnect the linking system connectors.”

The Spasso group includes 18 models: lounge chair; love seat; sofa; 4 modular sun lounger seating; 4 modular ottomans; 6 accessory tables; and triangle sun shade. Several models include options that further increase the versatility of the group.
