At the heart of Just Right Burn Technology is the Chinook’s patented mechanical VCV system. As chimney draft conditions change, the VCVs respond automatically to help regulate combustion airflow. During low and medium burns, the system helps maintain a more controlled and consistent fire while reducing the amount of ongoing adjustment normally required from the stove operator.
This technology provides a particularly important benefit when preparing the stove for an extended low burn. After loading the firebox, the user can close the door, close the catalytic bypass, and immediately move the primary air control to its minimum stop. As the chimney produces sufficient draft, the primary VCV automatically responds and establishes the airflow needed for the low-burn setting.

EPA testing measured heat output at 36,400 BTU per hour, with estimated maximum output of up to 80,000 BTU per hour depending on wood species, fuel load, moisture content, chimney conditions, and burn settings.
