Looft Industries and the Looftlighter Celebrates 10 Years as a Company

STOCKHOLM, SW - Richard Looft, inventor of the Looftlighter, started Looft Industries in 2005, together with Peter Rothschild and David E.R. Dangoor (Sweden’s consul general in New York). Before inventing the Looftlighter, Richard was working as a theater and film director, which included 10 years as assistant director to Swedish academy award director Ingmar Bergman.

The first container ever with Looftlighters reached Stockholm in 2006, and Richard phoned the best high-end stores and told them he was a theater director who’d invented a barbecue lighter, and they just hung up. In response, he took his grill, placed it outside the shops, got hold of the purchasers, and almost forced them to come out on the street to look.

They all placed their first orders after his one-minute demonstration. Today, Looftlighter sales are growing rapidly and the product is found in more than 30 countries all over the world.
