LOS ANGELES - Slide-on-wire canopies have become a common part of modern outdoor design for their simplicity, beauty and ability to provide shade when needed—and to retract easily. However, the canopies have many drawbacks because they are custom made. To fit properly, these canopies require precise pre-measurement, fabric and color selection, weeks of fabrication—and finally installation.
Once installed, the custom canopies can’t be modified and any repairs (if possible) require a trip back to the shop. Dr. Alan Shargani encountered these challenges firsthand as a consumer, and felt that the current canopies were inadequate. So, he designed a revolutionary version that is flexible, versatile and can fit any space.
Unlike custom canopies that are one piece, Infinity Canopy’s modular design uses individual shade panels that are connected together. Users can then create a canopy that can be configured to be as long and wide as needed, in one or multiple colors. It’s adaptable to any space, eliminating the need for custom canopies. Every aspect of Infinity Canopy can be controlled by the user to create infinite configuration and design possibilities, which can’t be replicated by any other shade system.
The most compelling feature of Infinity Canopy is the ability to create a single or multicolored canopy, and change it within minutes. In fact, Infinity Canopy is the only shade system that can be modified after installation. Shargani explains: “You can start with a single colored canopy and change it after installation to match the colors of new furniture, celebrate with your team’s colors, or to turn your canopy red, white and blue for the 4th of July.”
The innovative product was recently unveiled at the awning industry’s main annual event, IFAI EXPO in Minneapolis. “Infinity Canopy won the Show Stoppers award in the finished goods category. The response from the industry and consumers has been extremely positive,” says Shargani. “We’re working on new accessories and parts for Infinity Canopy to further expand its functions and design options. The possibilities are truly infinite!”
