MIRAMAR BEACH, FL - Bay Breeze Patio is celebrating 20 years in business. Owners Susan Kiley and Wayne Paul purchased Bay Breeze Patio retail store in Miramar Beach on February 1, 2005. Now two decades later, Bay Breeze Patio has been consistently voted best outdoor furniture retailer by the readers of VIP Destin Magazine and Emerald Coast Magazine, and is recognized as one of the top 100 retailers in the country in the casual furniture industry.

“We are celebrating 20 years of awesomeness,” exclaimed co-owner Susan Kiley. “We didn’t really have a clue what we were taking on, how long we could expect to survive, how successful, if at all, we could be. In hindsight, it was probably a good thing that we were clueless.”

While Kiley and Paul had no direct retail background, they had a combined 50 years of sales, marketing, manufacturing, sourcing and management experience between them.

“We would love to say all of those experiences were critical, and they were certainly useful and important,” added co-owner Wayne Paul. “But in the end, it came down to we purchased a business, and we immediately fell in love with the outdoor casual furnishing industry.”

Starting with only one manufacturer and three outdoor wicker furniture collections, Bay Breeze Patio’s offering has grown its offering tenfold. Today, the retailer carries 16 in-stock wicker furniture collections from the original manufacturer, as well as 19 other premium outdoor furniture brands—all within the original showroom. Embracing all things outdoor living, Bay Breeze Patio expanded its offering to include premium grills and outdoor kitchens as well as weather resistant fabrics, cushions, umbrellas, pillows, outdoor fireplaces and fire pits, art, rugs, and accessories.

While the team has enjoyed success and growth over the years, it has included challenges. The team overcame the 2008 housing crisis, the 2010 oil spill and the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic.  After the 2008 recession, they started celebrating their customers and community with a Customer Appreciation Event and their largest sales event of the year. 
“When we talk about 20 years of awesomeness, we are talking about our team, our customers,  our vendors, our furniture lines, our sales reps, and of course, our community,” shared Kiley. “Life does not get any better than loving what you do and where you do it.”

The team held its Anniversary Event this spring bringing in factory experts to further help clients build their outdoor dreams and showcase the joys of outdoor living. The anniversary event was held at the Bay Breeze Patio showroom located in Miramar Beach.
