STRATFORD, CT - Lawrence C. Kaplan has joined Northeast Casual Marketing (NECM) as its new vice president of Sales and Marketing. Kaplan will reportedly oversee the re-launch of SunGarden USA, and the future launch Protégé Casual USA.

“It’s been a very positive experience and a very fast paced learning curve bringing SunGarden under NECM,” said Edward McDonald, president of NECM and SunGarden USA. “The need to bring in a person with Larry’s experience was logical. With Larry on board I immediately secured our Protégé Casual USA relationship. With our full office of customer support and warehousing we are already seeking other lines to distribute nationally or regionally.”

Lawrence brings to NECM a 40-year background that includes retail and wholesale experience. “My 35 year career at Fortunoff was the building blocks from which I learned,” said Kaplan. “I worked my way from stockroom to senior buyer. In 2001 with the expanding Outdoor Business the family asked me to move departments to support the outdoor growth. In 2009 I formed LCK Associates and started my Manufacturing Rep business. The biggest positive ingredient I have brought to my customers was my ability to understand all aspects of their business. Growing from 1 store to 24 I have been thru personally many of the issues that all retailers face no matter their size.

“I am bringing to NECM the lines I represent now. These lines will have the benefit of a larger staff and further reach and help grow NECM,” continued Kaplan. “As we grow we are looking for Key Retail Partnerships, which has been very positive from the September Market. The SunGarden all European made quality product is a story that needs to re-told. The Protégé Casual USA story is just beginning. We see a market opportunity that represents itself in our value pricing; strong record of on time delivery plus and our ability to have a domestic warehouse. The SunGarden USA and Protégé Casual USA should be a strong combination and support each other!”
