ST. LOUIS - L. Frederic DuBois was a partner with Joseph Forshaw III at Forshaw of St. Louis from 1948 until 1974. He pioneered the sale of factory-built fireplaces to homebuilders in the Midwest, and was a co-founder of the Fireplace Institute, a forerunner of the HPBA.

He was later involved in the distribution of Richard LeDroff fireplaces from France, first through Forshaw and later through the Adams Company. DALLAS - Hanley Wood Exhibitions experienced significant attendee growth at its 2013 International Pool, Spa, Patio Expo, a signal that positive growth may be in store for 2014.

Total attendance was 11,120, a 16% increase over the 2012 show in New Orleans. DES PLAINES, IL - The National Association of the Remodeling Industry’s (NARI) fourth-quarter Remodeling Business Pulse (RBP) data continues to show growth. Although remodelers report the highest overall rating on business conditions, at 6.51 (from 6.41 last quarter), numbers in most other categories experienced a slight drop.

NMU Students Design Wicker for Lloyd Flanders

MARQUETTE, MI - Northern Michigan University’s human-centered design program partnered with longtime Menominee manufacturer Lloyd Flanders to develop concepts for contemporary woven furniture that might appeal to younger consumers.

Students gained valuable experience working for a real-world client and tempering their creativity with the constraints of available materials, production methods and labor costs. Company officials appreciated the fresh perspective and imaginative uses for the trademark wicker material that is weaved on the original 1917 Lloyd Loom and hand-stretched over frames of aluminum tubing.
