International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo™ Wraps in New Orleans

DALLAS - The International Pool Spa Patio Expo™ (PSP Expo), sponsored by the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), brought high energy to the show in New Orleans, LA, November 5-7, 2019 bringing an impressive sampling of new products, educational offerings, and more engagement opportunities.

The entire industry was represented at the 2019 PSP Expo, with 9,526 pool, spa, and outdoor living professionals from across the country and around the world. The exposition spanned 105,400 sq. ft., and was packed with brand new product launches, live product demonstrations, and an unmatched line-up of education. The PSP Expo’s conference program, Product Showcase, and new PSP CONNECT matchmaking platform added to the additional success of this year’s event.

The International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo continues to set itself apart from other North American industry shows with an expansive international and domestic draw, as well as the diverse partnerships with associations, media publications and industry groups. This year, attendees represented all 50 states, as well as 70 countries. The PSP Expo attendees represented all segments of the industry, including builders, retailers, service professionals, distributors, designers, architects, and other outdoor living professionals.

“We were thrilled to celebrate another year of the pool, spa and outdoor living industry last week in New Orleans,” said Tracy Garcia, PSP Expo Show Director, Informa Markets. “The event had palpable energy and a great vibe all week and we sincerely appreciate everyone who attended and participated in this year’s show.”

The educational program at this year’s PSP Expo brought an unparalleled opportunity for learning. The conference program featured 44 sessions led by some of the industry’s top professionals. For the first time in 10 years the program included three Power Panel sessions, one for each main segment of the industry – Builders, Retailers, and Service Professionals. The sessions were free to attend for all at the show, and the turn out was strong. Pre-conference programs were offered by PHTA, GENESIS®, American Shotcrete Association, and the National Plasterers Council.

“As a business owner it is excellent to have my team at the show giving them the opportunity to learn, to network, and to grow as a company. I have learned so much from my peers, as well as speakers,” said Ken Thompson of Clarity Pool Service
The PSP Expo continually adds new features to ensure the show remains relevant and is bringing the industry together. This year was no exception. To help foster the invaluable networking that takes place during the show a new matchmaking platform was launched, PSP CONNECT.  The platform enabled registered participants to request meetings with one another through an online portal ahead of the show. The tool allowed users to create profiles, identify key contacts based on areas of interest and job type, build relationships and create business opportunities - which resulted in hundreds of pre-planned private meetings at the event. A team of matchmaking professionals supported the service, assisting with meeting arrangements and managing the new PSP CONNECT Lounge on the show floor.

Pool & Spa News Magazine (PSN) partnered with the PSP Expo this year to present the PSN & Jandy Top 50 Service Awards during the show. This is the 2nd year PSN has honored service companies of all sizes as the very best in their field. However, this is the first time the awards were presented in person. This year with a tie 51 companies were honored, and those companies in attendance at the show received an award plaque.

Another new addition to the show this year was the First-Time Attendee Reception. The event took place on Monday evening before the show opened on Tuesday. The reception gave attendees new to the PSP Expo a place to connect and hear from the industry about what to expect during the show.

With a large, diverse group of attendees the networking events provided a fun way for everyone to connect and engage in a relaxed setting. PHTA hosted a WAVE Young Professional Networking Reception designed for those attendees that are up and coming in the industry. The PSP Welcome Party held at The Sugar Mill had a tremendous turnout and was kicked off by a New Orleans 2nd line band that marched attendees across the street to the event. GENESIS® hosted their 20th Annual Family Reunion and Winemaker dinner at Arnaud’s, one of NOLA’s oldest family-operated restaurants.

PHTA University continued their live demos this year as part of their show floor education offerings. The demo sessions ranged from vinyl liner installations to the principles of concrete placement. Each year the demo sessions grow in attendance with the aisles filled with a standing crowd.

“As a proud sponsor of the International Pool | Spa| Patio Expo™, we were excited to see that this year’s show offered a variety of opportunities that engaged, educated and elevated our members and the pool and hot tub industry, said PHTA President & CEO, Sabeena Hickman.”  “PHTA offers the pool and hot tub industry a robust line up of products and services to build their business and brand and offers them ways to give back to the industry they love.  We look forward to working with our partners at Informa to make the 2020 show even better.”

The GENESIS® Lifestyle booth introduced new Ask the Masters panel discussion sessions in addition to their business and design classes. The panel discussions featured a group of SWD Masters that provided attendees the opportunity to pose unique and unusual questions in an open-forum setting.

“GENESIS had an exceptional PSP Expo. With a record number of attendees and four of our pre-conference schools sold-out, full conference sessions, an active GENESIS Lifestyle Booth, and steady floor traffic, we could not have been more pleased with this year’s show. We’re excited for our 2020 events and the support and excitement for GENESIS remains strong and continues to grow.” Sabeena Hickman, PHTA President and CEO said.

The 2019 PSP Expo made a splash with all in attendance in New Orleans. Attendee and exhibitors alike were pleased with the event and the energy at the show. Next year the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo will return to Las Vegas November 11-13, 2020 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The show will continue to grow and develop new features to help all professionals stay at the forefront of the industry and connect with the pool, spa, and outdoor living community.

The show partners with The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) as the official Show Sponsor, GENESIS® as the official Show Endorser, Pool and Spa News (PSN) as the official Show Publication.
